My teaching philosophy is easy; “you never stop learning and you never give up trying to learn”. As a LTS teacher, you learn to adapt your lessons to each students’ unique needs. Every student learns differently and they enter your classroom equipped with different experiences and knowledge. I have grown to appreciate this perspective because you need to undertsand where your students are coming from before you can expect them to understand what you are trying to teach. Interestingly, before a lesson plan is written, the teacher should know who they are teaching. A subject matter can easily be written in the objective section of every lesson plan, but how it is taught is based on your understanding of the student(s).

I believe if you show interest in your students, they are going to show interest in what you are trying to teach. This philosophy is based on learning and knowing who your audience is. I have found that every lesson plan is considered well written only when your students buy into it. If you lose your students interest and motivation, your lesson plan will have the least impact and success. Lastly, I have found that the most difficult students are the one’s you learn the most from. This knowledge has been my success in the classroom. I have recognized that I can learn from my students and once I accepted this idea, my students have been able to learn from me.

This is a basic introduction about ‘me’; the author behind this blog entry. I am currently enrolled in a graduate program at Fairfield University and I am writing my first blog entry. The purpose of this entry is to become familiar with technology by using various methods and tools. The class I am currently taking is about understanding how technology can support teachers and their students. My first assignment is to write an introduction about me.

I am a person who is enrolled in a graduate program, which is a remarkable thing for me. I recently returned back to school to finish my life-long career goal, which is to become a teacher. I am, however, an unusual teacher because I literally avoided anything and everything that involved education since I was a young kid. I was a student who would never invest in an assignment and I never tried to please my teachers. For me, I thought school was a teachers playground for their missed childhood. I always thought that school had two types of teachers; one type was to make kids learn things they would never use in real life and the other type was trying to hold onto a childhood they did’nt quite master.

I thought teaching would never become my life because I’d have to be a student again in order for this dream to become real. Some people wonder why becoming a teacher is a life-long dream for me. The answer is quite simple; teachers are forever implanted in your head. They are in everyones’memory. We all had a teacher who made a difference in our life and made us think a little bit about the type of person we want to become. My teacher was Dr. Coffee from a private school in Connecticut. He made me think and he gave me more than an assignment, he taught me how to think and have fun at the same time. I had a lot of fun and I thought about it, and I decided it was time to become a teacher.

I took the long way to get to this juncture in my life. I figured I outgrew the “I hate homework and test” phase. I figured that I was now ready to tackle the responsibility of being a good student. It took me close to 20 years to get to this point, but I am here. School is great now; I do not avoid the work. I actually look forward to my assignments and I look forward to receiving excellent grades on every paper I turn in. If I had to write one sentence about me it would read like this; I was every teachers nightmare when I was a child, I can only hope I can repay them by becoming a remarkable educator to the most difficult, hard to reach students.
